The Homeschoolers' Book Club meets one Wednesday a month at 1:30 p.m. in the community room of the Fairview branch of the Santa Monica library (located on the corner of 21st Street and Ocean Park Boulevard).
Children of all ages and reading levels (including the read-to-me crowd) are welcome. The children don't read a particular title; rather, they talk about books they've read on a particular topic. (We ask that parents help their children stay fairly brief and to the point.) Families are also encouraged to bring art or science projects relating to their topics to share with the group.
After the children talk about their books, a craft project or other activity relating to the month's topic is offered.
Most of the topics offered lend themselves to either fiction or nonfiction books. Here are the topics and dates scheduled for January through May of 2007.
