Park Rotation

First, Third, and Fifth Thursday: Douglas Park

1155 Chelsea Blvd

Chelsea is just east of 25th Street. The park is between Wilshire and California, leaning more toward California. Too big to miss.

Boy, does this park have a lot of stuff. Swings, sand, seesaws, grass, ducks, dragonflies, reflecting pools, wooden bridges, decent climbing trees, play equipment so new-fangled I don't even know the name of it. A concrete pit for skating and bike riding. After the last weekend in May, they have water sprinklers in the pit, so in the summer bring towels, water shoes, and bathing suits or clothes you don't mind getting wet. Bring buckets, too -- the kids seem to love playing bucket brigade when the water's going. Heck, just bring everything.

This is the only park that doesn't have a parking lot -- sorry about that. But it's got so much great stuff that I couldn't not have it on the rotation. It's also the only park that has an ice cream van in constant attendance. Bring either your wallet or some firm resolve.
