Park Rotation

Second Thursday: Joslyn Park

633 Kensington Road
(310) 458-8974

Take Lincoln to Kensington, which is just south of Pearl (keep an eye peeled for the street sign -- there's no traffic signal, so if you blink you'll miss it). Kensington is a very short street, so once you're on it, you can't possibly miss the park. Just drive up the hill. You'll see a grassy dog run before you see the park proper. Plenty of parking all around, but the lot right next to the park (all the way up the hill, turn right) is tiny and tricky to maneuver, so unless you're desperate, you're probably better off with street parking or one of the slots at the bottom near the dog run.

This park is small, but has a nice variety of stuff -- a few swings, sandy play areas, some small climbing rocks just the right size and distance apart for a game of follow-the-leader, a double-sized basketball court, and a play structure I like because it's chunky plastic rather than sharp pointy metal. The only thing it's lacking is shade, and there's always a stiff ocean breeze, so be sure to bring hats and extra jackets.
